Remarks / more information:

undefinedundefinedDecision making and symptom assessment at the end of life is more complicated in the case of cognitive impairment. Palliative care is a person-centred approach that applies at the end of life and earlier and has benefits also for people with chronic-progressive disease that is often accompanied by cognitive impairment. The shared problems in decision making and symptom assessment between, for example, dementia and Parkinson’s disease, provide opportunities to optimize, in a concerted fashion, palliative care for people with cognitive impairment across different underlying diseases and settings.
