The research of my group focuses on understanding the mechanisms of intermolecular interactions by a merge of structural and biophysical techniques, the major of which is NMR spectroscopy. In the specifics, we aim at developing and establishing an integrative approach to the study of the principles of intermolecular interactions, which combines high and low resolution structural information with biochemical data. The combined interpretation of the interdisciplinary experimental data, to obtain a mechanistic model of cellular processes, requires a substantial computational effort, next to the experimental information. By this interdisciplinary approach we are able to break the limits of each single technique and thereby study large multicomponent complexes, cellular receptors and their interaction with small molecule regulators. In this talk I will give examples of this research applied to RNA-protein and ligand-receptor complexes.
