3.6 million euros for development and imaging of new materials for tissue engineering

Dr. Egbert Oosterwijk, Associate Professor at the Department of Urology, has been awarded a Marie Curie Initial Training Network (ITN) grant of € 3.6 million funded by the European Commission under FP7 for 'Training scientists to develop and Image materials for Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine (iTERM). It brings together 6 renowned research institutes and 2 SME. The network will employ 12 PhD students and one postdoc who will develop new materials and implants for the bio-engineering of soft tissue (skin, urogenital) and hard (bone) tissue as well as state-of-the-art novel multimodality visualization procedures to monitor the behaviour of implants.
