Best thesis award for Walter Bronkhorst

At the spring meeting of the Royal Dutch Society for Microbiology, Walter Bronkhorst received the Westerdijk award for best PhD thesis in the field of general microbiology.

Walter did his PhD studies in the research group of Ronald van Rij, dept. Medical Microbiology. He defended his thesis ‘Small RNA-based antiviral defense in insects’ in November 2014 and now studies small regulatory RNAs as a postdoc in Mainz, Germany, funded by an EMBO long-term fellowship.
