Cum laude degree for Wouter Verdurmen

On October 22, 4 years and 2 months after starting his project in the department of Biochemistry, Wouter Verdurmen defended his PhD thesis "Getting past the barrier: New insights into the uptake mechanism of cell-penetrating peptides and applications to the delivery of macromolecules" with honors. Wouter has (co)-authored a total of 12 papers (5 as first author) among which are publications in Angewandte Chemie and Trends in Pharmacological Sciences. Since September he is conducting postdoctoral research on protein engineering in the laboratory of Prof. Andreas Plückthun at the University of Zürich, financed by a Rubicon Grant.
