Cum Laude doctorate for Pascal Miesen

On 15 September, Pascal Miesen of the Dept. of Medical Microbiology, theme Infectious diseases and global health, defended his PhD thesis, entitled 'Untangling the piRNA pathway in the arbovirus vector mosquito Aedes aegypti’. He was awarded the doctorate with the disctinction Cum Laude.

After working as a visiting scientist at Pasteur Institute, supported by a short-term fellowship of the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO), Pascal recently returned to Radboudumc. He will work as a postdoc in the group of Ronald van Rij, where he will establish a new research line to dissect the molecular determinants of virus transmission by mosquitoes.
