EMBO fellowship for Joost te Riet

Riet, Joost te

Joost te Riet (Department of Tumor Immunology) has been awarded an EMBO short-term fellowship. The fellowship for 3 months is awarded to conduct research in the laboratory of Prof. Daniel J. Müller at ETH Zürich, Basel, Switzerland.

In collaboration with Prof. Müller, who is a leading expert in single-cell force spectroscopy by atomic force microscopy, Joost te Riet will study the role of actin cytoskeletal regulation in ALCAM-mediated cell adhesion.

In the immunological synapse between dendritic cells and T cells, mechanical forces might induce ALCAM avidity regulation by coupling of ALCAM to the actin cytoskeleton.

This fellowship allows him to extend his research on the importance of mechanotransduction in immune cell stimulation and the application of single-cell force spectroscopy combined with confocal microscopy for immunobiology.
