ERC Advanced Grant for Henk Stunnenberg

Henk Stunnenberg, head of the department of Molecular Biology, has been awarded an ERC Advanced Grant of €2.5 million for his project 'SysStemCell'.

He will use this grant during the next five years to dissect regulatory transcriptional networks orchestrating mouse pluripotent embryonic stem cells (ESC). State-of-the-art functional (epi)genomics and proteomics techniques will be used to quantitatively define the principles of gene regulation at the biochemical and (epi)genetic level. This will yield invaluable insights into pluripotency and self-renewal of ESCs, but also into the molecular mechanisms driving mouse early embryonic development.
