Merel Adjobo-Hermans from the Department of Biochemistry has been awarded an E-Rare-2 grant (250k€). This grant is part of a consortium grant awarded to young PIs situated in Germany, Austria, Israel and The Netherlands. The project funded is entitled: "Advancing the European Multidisciplinary Initiative on Neuroacanthocytosis - EMINA-2: Dissecting the molecular pathophysiology of Chorea-Acanthocytosis". Knockout mice, Drosophila models, patient-derived stem cells, peptides and novel fluorescent tools will be used to unravel the molecular basis of the rare neurodegenerative disease chorea-acanthocytosis.
