Grant to improve drug delivery to brain tumors

William Leenders Stop

Stichting Stop Hersentumoren awarded William Leenders (Dept. of Pathology) with a grant of € 131,625 for a project which aims to develop delivery vehicles that improve diagnosis and therapy of gliomas. Large parts of these brain tumors reside behind a functional blood brain barrier, enormously complicating treatment. In this project, llama antibodies with blood-brain barrier passage capacities will be used as the basis for novel compounds to be tested in animal models of glioma. This project will be carried out in close collaboration with the Dept of Bio-organic Chemistry (RUN), QVQ BV (Utrecht) and Cell Biology (UMCG).
