Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology successful at the Dutch Medicines Days 2011

Hanneke Wittgen 2nd Prize

Hanneke Wittgen, PhD student at the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology won the 2nd prize, out of eight contestants, in the annual PhD student competition at the FIGON Dutch Medicines Days 2011 on October 3, with an oral presentation of her work. She convincingly showed how the activity of the ABC transporter P-glycoprotein in the blood brain barrier can be exploited in the development of novel peripheral cannabinoid type 1 receptor antagonists. Her enthusiastic performance was praised by the jury and earned her 750 Euros.
