In 2015 funding will be made available for approximately 7 Radboud Institute for Health Sciences junior researcher projects. The call for these PhD grants is now open.

Criteria for application:

  • Only current Radboudumc (junior)PIs (status at January 1, 2014), affiliated with the Radboud Institute for Health Sciences, are eligible to submit a project.
  • Only one project per applicant can be submitted.
  • The project should result in a PhD graduation within Radboudumc.

Since research methodology development is an important goal of the Radboud Institute for Health Sciences and 'personalized healthcare' is the overall Radboudumc research theme, two positions will be allocated to projects on "methodology development for research on personalized healthcare".

Furthermore, two positions will be reserved for "international partner" projects. These proposals should be submitted together with an international partner. The PhD student, either a Dutch or a foreign candidate, who will be appointed at the project should perform part of the research in Nijmegen and part of the research at the institute of the international partner (at least one year).

The projects should be submitted as a pre-proposal using the application form.

Procedure:

  • The Grant Review Committee of the Radboud Institute for Health Sciences will assess the pre-proposals on the aspects: 1. suitability of the project for a junior researcher; 2. innovative content; 3. scientific or societal relevance.
  • A maximum of 15-20 projects will be selected by the Grant Review Committee for submission of a full proposal.
  • The full proposals will be assessed by the Grant Review Committee of the Radboud Institute for Health Sciences.
  • An opportunity for a concise rebuttal to the review will be provided.
  • The Grant Review Committee will come to a final advice based on the review and the rebuttal. The Committee will rank the projects according to 1. suitability of the project for a junior researcher; 2. innovative content; 3. scientific quality; 4. preliminary results; 5. scientific or societal relevance; 6. collaboration within or between the research theme(s).
  • The Committee's advice will be handed to the scientific director of the Radboud Institute for Health Sciences for final decision.
