Dr Mireille Broeders (Health Evidence) has received a KWF grant (570,000 euro) for a project entitled "Personalised RISk-based MAmmography screening (PRISMA) - from one-size-fits-all to a tailored approach".

Mammography screening can detect breast cancer early, which improves prognosis and quality of life for the patient. The PRISMA study (Personalised RISk-based MAmmography screening) investigates the added value of targeted screening, based on a woman’s individual risk of breast cancer, to improve current harm-benefit ratios. Equally important, PRISMA will provide insight into facilitators and barriers concerning the acceptability of targeted screening for Dutch women as well as organisational, legal and ethical considerations.
