New drug combination kills malaria parasites and mosquitoes

Researchers of the Dept of Medical Microbiology published on the safety and efficacy of a new malaria drug combination.

The combination of standard antimalarials and the mosquitocidal agent ivermectin provides a novel approach to malariatherapy by reducing the lifespan of mosquitoes that feed on malaria-infected individuals.

The article was published this week in Clinical Infectious Diseases.
