Noyons Grant for Hans Jacobs

Jacobs, Hans

Dr. Hans Jacobs from the Departments of Tumor Immunology and Laboratory Medicine, has been awarded the Noyons-grant of 15.000 euros during the annual meeting of the Dutch Society of Clinical Chemistry. Together with prof. Ron Wevers, prof. Irma Joosten (both Department of Laboratory Medicine), dr. Theo Luider and dr. Martijn van Duijn (both Erasmus MC) they develop a novel method to quantify antibodies using mass spectrometrie. 'Quantification of antibodies and light chains is currently done with conventional immunoassays,' says Hans Jacobs. 'We have done some initial experiments which show that quantification of antibodies is a lot more accurate when using mass spectrometry. With this grant we can test new hypotheses and start to validate our new method, we hope that could be the first step towards a bigger project in the future.'
