RIHS Junior Researcher call 2017

In 2017 funding will be made available for 6 RIHS Junior Researcher projects. The call for these PhD grants is now open.

 

 

 

The criteria for application are:

  • Only current RIHS (junior)PIs (status at January 1, 2016) or a member of her/his group are eligible to submit a project.
  • Only one project per (j)PI group can be submitted.
  • The project proposal covers at least two parts of the spectrum Molecule-Man-Population, preferably by collaboration with another (j)PI group in Radboudumc or abroad.
  • The project should result in a PhD graduation within Radboudumc.

Projects can be submitted within 3 categories:

  1. International partner: The proposal is submitted together with an international partner. The PhD candidate, either a Dutch or a foreign candidate, who will be appointed at the project should perform part of the research in Nijmegen and part of the research at the institute of the international partner (at least one year). In this category at least two projects will be granted (conditional on sufficient quality). 
  2. Methodology development for research: Within the proposed PhD project methods should be developed that can be used by others for research. In this category at least two projects will be granted (conditional on sufficient quality)
  3. Other

The projects should be submitted as a pre-proposal using the application form.

The procedure:

  • The RIHS Grant Review Committee will assess the pre-proposals on the aspects: 1. suitability of the project for a junior researcher; 2. innovative content; 3. scientific or societal relevance.
  • A maximum of 10-15 projects will be selected by the Grant Review Committee for submission of a full proposal.
  • The full proposals will be assessed by the RIHS Grant Review Committee.
  • An opportunity for a concise rebuttal to the review will be provided.
  • The Grant Review Committee will come to a final advice based on the review and the rebuttal.The Committee will rank the projects according to 1. suitability of the project for a junior researcher; 2. innovative content; 3. scientific quality; 4. preliminary results; 5. scientific or societal relevance; 6. collaboration
  • The Committee’s advice will be handed to the scientific director of for final decision.

Time line:

Submission of pre-proposals (*) 10 May 2016, 15h

Pre-advice to applicant 1 September 2016
Rebuttal by applicant (*) 8 September 2016, 11h
