SYRCLE receives a VWS grant to develop tools and guidelines for systematic reviews (SR) in laboratory animal experimentation.

New therapies or interventions which are effective in animal studies often appear to be less effective or even ineffective in clinical trials. Sometimes, the interventions are even counterproductive in humans. Therefore, the need to better understand how animal research informs clinical research is clear, and better methods such as systematic reviews are becoming more widely indicated in the translation of animal research.
In the field of animal research SR are still rather uncommon even though recent publications show that SEs of animal studies produce valuable new insights. Therefore, in this project tools and guidelines to facilitate conducting systematic reviews in laboratory animal experimentation are developed.
