Workshop: Social Media and Disruptive Technology

Social media

Social media, eHealth and other disruptive technologies influence society, healthcare, but more importantly, they influence the life of PhD-candidates. They facilitate efficient collaboration with supervisors and peers, simplify data collection and allow you to present your work to a worldwide audience. In this Radboudumc-wide workshop, the current field of social media & research in healthcare will be described and what you can expect in the near future will be elaborated. Second, you will be given several examples of how you can benefit most from (different types of) social media. Finally, you will be presented several cases that will be discussed collaboratively. For example: What are the pros and cons of sharing your results within social media?

The workshop will be given by Robin Hooijer and Tom van de Belt, both working for the Radboud REshape Innovation Center. Robin Hooijer is digital communication expert and works on several social media projects within the Radboud University Medical Center including Yammer, Facetalk and Here is My Data. Tom van de Belt published a PhD-thesis on social media and wikis in healthcare and is involved in new research projects with social media and wearable devices.
