ZonMW-TOP grant for Henk Stunnenberg & Mihai Netea

Henk Stunnenberg, theme Cancer development and immune defense, and Mihai Netea, theme Infectious Diseases and Global Health, have been awarded a collaborative ZonMW-TOP grant (€ 675,000) for their project entitled ‘Epigenetic targeting for prevention of sepsis-induced macrophage tolerance in humans’.

Sepsis is a complex syndrome triggered by infection. It is the leading cause of death in intensive care units worldwide. This project aims to obtain detailed knowledge about the molecular (epigenetic) mechanisms that are involved in sepsis with the ultimate goal to find leads for new treatment options to improve the prognosis of sepsis patients.
