Reconstructive and regenerative medicine

Jeroen van den Beucken is a medical biologist interested in bone regenerative medicine. In particular, he is interested in the optimisation of synthetic material properties to improve, or rather instruct, the biological surrounding to regenerate desired tissues for orthopaedic or oral/craniomaxillofacial implantology applications. Current projects focus on the biological evaluation of calcium phosphate-based materials from a translational perspective and on cell-cell and cell-materials interactions from a fundamental perspective. His expertise include dedicated cell culture and animal models with specific analytical methods (in vitro: biochemical assays, microscopy, gene & protein analysis; in vitro: histology, histomorphometry, immunohistochemistry, gene & protein analysis, micro-computed tomography) to evaluate interactions between bone implants and cells/tissues.
