Assistant Professor

Reconstructive and regenerative medicine

The research line of Willeke Daamen focuses on molecular tissue engineering & regenerative medicine, especially concentrating on extracellular matrix components. The main objective is to engineer defined cellular micro-environments with specified 3-dimensional architecture that signal to the cell what tissue/organ should be made. The research has a highly translational character as materials developed in her research group are used in pre-clinical research by clinicians, ultimately leading to clinical applications. In addition, she works on lyophilisomes, a new type of drug delivery device she invented.

Willeke is junior-PI and junior-PL at the Radboudumc.
