Profile

Myotonic dystrophy type 1 (DM1) is a muscular dystrophy caused by an expansion of the (CTG)n repeat in the 3' UTR of the DM protein kinase (DMPK) gene. My research is focused on the fate of the toxic (CUG)n DMPK RNA in DM1, from synthesis to (drug-induced) decay. Anke Gudde graduated in Molecular Life Sciences at the Radboud University Nijmegen in 2011. She is currently working as PhD student at the Department of Cell Biology.
