Profile

Alejandra uses cell-based tissue engineering approaches to study in vitro cell-matrix interactions and further develop new therapies to be implemented into the clinics. She is currently working with pelvic organ prolapse (POP) at the Tissue Engineering Group of the Experimental Urology lab. Areas of interest: tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, pelvic floor disorders, cellular biomechanics, cell-matrix interactions, in vitro models, and, soft tissue repair and regeneration.

She is currently a member of the research and development committee of the international urogynecology association (IUGA), and part of the Europen COST-BM1209 ReST program.
