Profile

Research interests include Scanning Probe Microscopy and electronic properties of nanoscopically well characterised systems. Major current projects are: Surface properties of bio-magnetite Quantum dots as spin-filter, the liquid-solid interface, real-space studies of organic chemistry and protein-nucleic acid interaction.

Sylvia Speller is a full professor in Experimental Physics since 2001. She leads the Scanning Probe Microscopy research group at the Research Institute for Molecules and Materials. Currently, she acts as head of the Experimental Solid State 2 department and she coordinates projects on Advancing Scanning Probe Methods: the NanoNed flagship Advanced Nanoprobing and the EU project on Advanced Scanning PRobes. She also directs NanoLab Nijmegen.
