Stress-related disorders

Dr. Janna N. Vrijsen is a behavioral scientist who has done research on genetic and cognitive vulnerability for depression. Her main interest lies in the field of biased processing of emotional information. Depressed individuals tend to preferentially process negative material, while positive material is generally processed less efficiently. This processing bias is considered to be a trait characteristic of depression and remains after remission. Dr. Janna N. Vrijsen aims to find novel ways of studying bias, as well as ways to modify bias and in turn affect depressive symptomatology.
