Women's cancers

Ovarian cancer is one of the most lethal gynaecological malignancies, due to its vague symptoms and inadequate screening methods. Therefore most of the patients are diagnosed at an advanced stage. Even though patients respond very well to primary treatment, about 80% will develop recurrence. Our goal is to determine how ovarian cancer suppresses the immune cells within the tumor, which enables tumor cells to escape elimination by the immune system. We are especially interested in immunosuppressive compound within ascites of ovarian cancer patients.
